Equipment used to power space technology must be lightweight, small, reliable, and resistant to high-shock and vibration, radiation, and harsh/extreme temperatures. An RF system that can withstand the rigors of such a tough environment and maintain performance is a requirement for space flight applications. Deep space flight is when satellites or other equipment are outside of Earth’s orbit.
At the same time, technology providers are working on advanced designs that accommodate extremely restricted space constraints and producing spaceflight connectors that successfully operate up to 70 GHz. These cables are necessary interconnects between RF circuit cards, modules, and enclosure panels.
