Six rugged coaxial cable constructions that optimize performance vs. continuous flexure to support the growing industrial automation and robotics market
WALLINGFORD, CT — February 25, 2026 –– Times Microwave Systems, a pioneering brand of high-performance RF and microwave interconnect solutions for more than 70 years, announces the expansion of its XtendedFlex™ product family with six ultra-flexible micro-coaxial cable options: XtendedFlex 045, 142, 174, 178, 213, and 304. Designed to support demanding applications where flexibility, reliability, and signal integrity are critical, the XtendedFlex family delivers consistent RF performance in dynamic, space-constrained environments.
Built on a common design philosophy, XtendedFlex cables are engineered to withstand repeated motion and tight bend radii without compromising electrical or mechanical performance. The expanded family enables engineers to scale designs across multiple cable diameters while maintaining predictable attenuation, RF shielding, impedance control, and durability. This makes the XtendedFlex line well suited for applications ranging from medical devices and industrial automation to aerospace, instrumentation, and advanced electronics.
The XtendedFlex family features carefully selected material that balance flexibility with electrical efficiency, including silver-plated copper conductors, low-density dielectric constructions, and optimized shielding designs. These elements work together to minimize loss, manage thermal performance, and support reliable signal transmission in assemblies that must move, flex, or fit into extremely limited spaces. “Designers are under constant pressure to reduce size while increasing performance and reliability,” said Kevin Moyher, Senior Product Manager at Times Microwave Systems. “The XtendedFlex family gives engineers a flexible platform they can trust, whether they are designing a highly compact medical device or a complex cable assembly that needs to perform through repeated motion over its service life. All six new XtendedFlex designs have been put through rigorous flex testing and have performed exceptionally well.”
XtendedFlex products will be available as bulk cable, connectors, and fully engineered assemblies, allowing customers to select the level of integration that best fits their application. Assembly options include single-ended and double-ended terminations as well as bundled and hybrid configurations, supporting efficient system integration and streamlined supply chains.
The XtendedFlex cable family recently debuted at DesignCon 2026 in Santa Clara, California. Attendees visited the Times Microwave Systems booth to see the XtendedFlex products up close and to discuss application-specific requirements with the sales and product managers.
